Fun things to do in and around Seattle this weekend
Labor Day is a holiday that was created to honor the American Labor Movement and the contributions that workers have made to build this country. That being said, it’s also the unofficial end of summer and a great time to get out to enjoy the weather. There is a slew of events that are occurring all over the state.
Music Festivals
There are several music festivals including the always popular Bumbershoot. This 3 day festival has local, national and international bands playing all day long on several stages and venues. Seattle International Film Festival will be screening short films and dont forget all the delicious food options. The Oak Harbor Music Festival features more than 30 bands playing all types of music on two stages, beer gardens, food vendors, and arts and crafts on Whidbey Island. Its a great free option.
State Fairs
At the Evergreen State Fair in Monroe you’ll find every kind of other entertainment you can think of. Washington State Fair in Puyallup kicks off Labor Day Weekend and each day will have it’s share of live concerts, animal exhibits, fun booths etc.
Other Happenings
If planes are your thing, there is The Boeing Flight Path at MOHAI or the Vintage Plane Festival at Paine Field. Feel like some wine, brunch, live music and food trucks? Check out the 50th Anniversary party of Chateau Ste. Michelle.
Whatever your plans have a great time and remember to be extra nice to those laborers who are working on Labor Day!
